Paul Hoffman's '32 Hiboy Roadster - DH Special
Back to Hot Rods gallery

Jet aircraft mechanic/pilot and lunatic Bonneville motorcycle racer Paul Hoffman had Jimmy Shine and the SO-Cal crew put together this very unique hot rod. For starters a 502 big block Chevy driven through a 700R transmission and Currie 9’ rear end was put into the mix. Then, being a flyer, he decided aircraft styling would be used through out the car. Next Shine performed his magic on the hood sides fashioning riveted aluminum blisters to cover the protruding “Rat Motor” heads then continued with a cloth covered wiring harness, hand crafted firewall, floor and trans tunnel. This is all topped off with a paint scheme and colors reminiscent of the pylon air racers of the 1930’s.
