The last two weeks have been ridiculously busy. Starting with the second El Mirage dry lake meet of the '06 season, followed by the L.A. Roadster/So-Cal Speed Shop open house the following weekend.

The June 11th. S.C.T.A. meet found one Jimmy Shine pulling a patrol duty. Stuck at station 11 on the return road side. (station 11 is the very last station before the end of the track.) Even though I was far away from the traps, a few high M.P.H. cars came my way via failed parachutes, bad brakes, over zealous drivers etc. This of course allowed me to use the radio to call the tower to let them know the course was clear. It might sound lame but I felt important and it gave me something to do.

My friends the Brauer family had a good day. Gary and son Mike run an AA/ FUEL ROADSTER. Mike has been in the 2 club for a few years now with a record in A/FR @ 225 & change. Gary's been after a record himself in the same car different class. AA/FR was on a 220 minimum to qualify. As the luck would have it, first round Sunday morning the gods smiled as Gary ran 223 – out the back door then off the track. Going fast he’s got, but now needs to work on stopping. Congratulations Gary.

Friday , June 16th 3:00pm, SO-CAL Speed Shop opens the doors for the 10th annual Open House kick off before the L.A. Roadster show. Anyone that's ever been to our shop for this event  knows what I’m talking about. 500+ hot rods and bikes, 5000 people, In-N-Out burger truck, a roach coach in the back hammering out .50 cent tacos, Fender guitar display with live music, Hot Rod Hall “O” Famer’s , rock stars, etc. You name it, we got it (I think I saw a few dipshits mixed in as well).

Everything went off like a well oiled clock thanks to Pete organizing all the details down to the brass tacks. If you were  at the open house, next time you see Pete be sure to thank him for the kiddie pools filled with ice water and the free in-n-out burgers. It was 111 degrees between the buildings. I’m sure there would have been some fatalities if it wasn’t for the H2O.

Check out the pics for more details.  So like I’ve said before, if you haven’t been to our open house, get on it next year.   That is of course along as you’re not dead. No dead people - thanx
